Bosham Ward are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Ward Manager to lead the team & provide nursing care of the highest standard.
Bosham is a 27 bedded ward caring for General Medical patients and Care of the Elderly patients. We are seeking a dynamic, motivated nurse that has experience at deputy sister / ward manager level who is enthusiastic and hardworking. Bosham promotes excellent teamwork and offers supportive mentoring, demonstrating a positive attitude to all working on the Ward.
As a Band 7 you will be expected to lead the multi-disciplinary team and bring a positive attitude to the department. You will require outstanding communication skills and need to liaise between the Matrons and all other members of the MDT.
Bosham Ward actively works towards improving patient care using the PFIS / DMS, involving all staff members in making positive changes and influencing others. You will be expected to manage all staff members, deal with complaints at ward level, and participate in clinical audits. Other responsibilities will include managing off duty, undertaking risk assessments, and reviewing incident forms and formulating learning. Daily staffing huddles are routine to maintain excellent communication to help enhance safety for our patients and staff.

* The primary aim of the role is to promote effective patient-centred care through performing individual assessment of care needs, developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care that meet the needs of the patient and their families/carers.
* Providing good leadership and continuing to promote a safe, inclusive, and diverse environment to staff and patients.

Job responsibilities
To have continuing 24-hour responsibility for the effective management of the ward. In addition, the post holder will provide nursing leadership within the ward, ensuring an effective quality nursing service, with responsibility for standards of nursing care and patient safety.
The Sister/Charge Nurse will be responsible for the budget management of the ward, staff performance, and appraisal. To manage an appropriate patient workload across the service, providing expert support and advice. Developing the teams and ensuring a seamless service for patients.

* RGN 1st level. Educated to Diploma level in relevant subject/Educated to Degree Level
* Evidence of Professional Development with extensive post-registration experience
* Broad professional vision. People management. Negotiation skills
* Proven track record of leading/assisting to lead a team. Motivation and Innovation. Ability to participate in and implement the development of nursing practice
* Conflict management and negotiation skills. Ability to deal with complex situations. Have an understanding of the principle of budget management
* Ability to work under pressure/stress tolerance. Conflict management, manage change, performance issues. Demonstrate emotional intelligence
* Experience in leading/assisting to lead patient care, ensuring high standards are maintained
* Demonstrates behaviours and attitudes that support the Trust's vision of 'we care'
* NMC Registration

* NVQ assessor ILS/ALS provider. Leadership course or equivalent
