Shift Production Manager (Rolling Stock) Contract Type: Permanent Schedule: Full Time Safety Status: Safety Critical Salary: £55,000 -£61,000 depending on experience annual performance bonus Our client is seeking a Shift Production Manager to join their Rolling Stock Maintenance Delivery Team. This role is responsible for delivering train service agreements and ensuring timely maintenance of rolling stock through effective leadership of supervisory and technical teams. The position oversees the planning, preparation, and operating performance of maintenance schedules, with responsibility for a budget of up to £1M. To be considered for this Shift Production Manager role, you don't need rolling stock maintenance experience. However, you do need prior experience in engineering management and managing large technical teams. You will need to demonstrate that you have delivered a product or service and work in a safety-critical maintenance environment with non-negotiable timeline deliverables. This Shift Production Manager Role covers days, nights, weekdays and weekends. Key Responsibilities Production Management & Fleet Planning Plan and manage all resources including people, plant, materials, tools and third-party services Develop and execute production plans to meet business targets Minimize deferred work and ensure maintenance activities follow relevant instructions Optimize shift coverage to minimize downtime and customer delays Incorporate extraordinary circumstances and complex work into planning Customer & Team Management Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent delivery and prompt issue resolution Lead and develop high-performing teams using modern people management practices Champion employee development and career growth initiatives Ensure employee safety and well-being remain paramount Implement and maintain robust health and safety protocols Drive continuous improvement initiatives and quality standards Financial & Operational Management Manage operations in line with agreed KPIs Meet short-range budget objectives Monitor progress and measure success against established criteria Ensure compliance with internal control procedures Implement safe systems and controls within area of responsibility Qualifications & Experience Essential Management or supervisory experience of large teams in a technical position Engineering qualification and experience Strong knowledge of IT asset management systems and Microsoft products (Excel & Power BI) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven organizational and planning capabilities Experience in Safety Critical Environment Preferred Technical knowledge of Rolling Stock maintenance procedures/practices Experience with continuous improvement methodologies Understanding of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation/procedures Project management knowledge Commercial and contract management experience Benefits We offer a competitive compensation package including: Competitive salary Comprehensive pension plan Generous holiday allowance PLEASE NOTE ALL APPLICANTS MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A DRUGS AND ALCOHOL TEST BEFORE BEING OFFERED A POSITION.
