As the Head of Project Controls – Major Projects, you are a strategic leader responsible for overseeing SFL’s Major Projects project control process. Your role is to ensure that projects are given the project controls toolsets to monitor, control & inform, enabling projects to be delivered on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.
Your responsibilities include developing and implementing project control strategies, processes, and procedures, and monitoring their effectiveness. You are in charge of managing SFL’s Major Projects schedules and cost management, whilst enabling the identification and mitigation of strategic and business risk. Additionally, you lead a team of project controls professionals and provide them with guidance, mentorship, and training.
The Head of Project Controls must have excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills. They should have a deep understanding of project management methodologies and tools and a strong background in risk analysis, cost engineering, and scheduling. Being highly organised and detail-oriented, they can prioritise tasks, manage budgets and resources, and ensure projects are fully supported by the function.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain a successful P3 (Portfolio, Programme, Project) controls level of service to ensure all scope is supported effectively, including timely recruitment and deployment of resources.
* Guide, develop, maintain, and communicate all P3 controls processes and procedures.
* Provide expert input and advice, and represent P3 controls at Programme and Portfolio Boards.
* Head a team of project control experts, planners, reporting, and risk managers to drive a high-quality service on major projects.
* Accountable & ensure programme and project delivery is effectively supported with the provision of quality schedule, cost, and risk monitoring, updates, and forecasts, adhering to agreed reporting drumbeat.
* Lead the implementation of the suite of project control management arrangements.
* Lead a team and set individuals’ objectives, reviewing performance, undertaking appraisals, and providing ongoing feedback.
* Demonstrate behaviours that promote a challenging attitude and the capacity to learn continually, encourage, motivate, develop, and support the team.
* Govern and assure the Project Controls function.
Education and Qualifications / Skills and Competencies:
Education Level: Preferred qualified to Degree or HNC/HND level
Years of Experience (if applicable): Minimum of 5 years relevant experience working within a lead project controls role
Professional Certifications: APM
Skills and Competencies:
* Knowledgeable and experienced utilising and administering Primavera P6.
* Proficient in EVM processes and its application on construction projects and possess a strong aptitude to lead schedule, cost, risk, change management activities as well as reporting.
* Proven demonstrable experience in leading large diverse teams.
* PMO Reporting skills, Project Controls methodologies, Earned Value Management, Change Management.
* Solid and provable experience with cost, schedule, risk, and estimating.
* Project lifecycle experience.
