Finance Practice Development Lawyer (PDL) – 5+ years PQE
Location: Birmingham/Manchester/Leeds/Edinburgh/Glasgow/Aberdeen/Belfast
Contract Type: Permanent Part Time (Ideally 2-3 days a week)
Brief:
We are currently looking to recruit a Practice Development Lawyer with 5+ years PQE to join our Finance team. We are happy to consider applicants for any of our regional UK offices.
The ideal candidate will have a background in real estate finance or social housing; however, candidates with a general Finance background are also encouraged to apply. Knowledge of LMA drafting is essential.
Background to the Role:
The Pinsent Masons Finance practice is a large and varied global finance team working on a broad range of finance transactions including structured finance, securitisation, debt capital markets, asset-based lending, receivables finance, project finance, corporate lending and acquisition finance, real estate finance, social housing and education finance, sustainable finance, Islamic finance and more.
The Finance PDL team is integral to the success of the firm’s global Finance practice and to many of the firm’s key client relationships in the Financial Services sector. The PDL team leads on legal and non-legal issues, best practice, and innovative thinking.
Purpose of the Role:
To work as an integral member of the Finance PDL team, delivering high quality knowhow, guidance, and training, internally and externally, and continue to build on the PDL team’s expertise and reputation, enabling our lawyers and clients, developing our finance practice, and building client relationships through:
1. Developing and maintaining technical and commercial resources (including drafting and maintaining legal precedents and guidance notes).
2. Providing training and working on training programmes for internal lawyers and external clients.
3. Tracking, creating, managing and disseminating technical and commercial intelligence to clients and lawyers.
4. Spotting opportunities and shaping new and innovative practices, products and resources for external clients and lawyers.
5. Delivering strategic knowledge and client initiatives, working closely with the firm’s client relationship teams and lawyers.
6. Developing relationships with key clients, including through liaison in relation to client policies and precedents.
Responsibilities:
* Producing and maintaining a bank of precedents, standard forms and practice notes.
* Working with the PDL team and partners on transactional queries and practice development initiatives.
* Horizon scanning and tracking key legal and market developments.
* Organising training programmes.
* Drafting publications and writing articles for publication.
* Researching and providing information on legal and policy developments.
* Maintaining the group's knowledge databases.
* Working with the firm's Central Knowledge and Research teams.
* Delivering training to key clients.
* Attending client and sector events, coordinating Pinsent Masons events.
* Identifying and sourcing appropriate external training for lawyers.
Relevant Experience:
* Previous experience working as a lawyer in the Finance law arena for at least five years.
* Client facing experience and a desire to continue developing client relationships.
