This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE). The full-time equivalent is £55,000 per annum. Therefore this role will pay £22,000 per annum. Founded by the Oxford Trust in 1987, Oxford Innovation Space is the leading provider of innovation space across the UK, supporting the growth of early business stages through flexible and affordable workspace – office, workshop or laboratory – and a network of Innovation Directors providing information and guidance. We are seeking an innovative and strategic thinker with strong relationship building skills for the role of Innovation Director across centres in Oxford. The Innovation Director will provide pragmatic, high quality strategic business coaching and innovation support to businesses based in several Oxfordshire Innovation centres, with the objective of enabling business growth, innovation development and commercial success, drawing on and developing a local ecosystem of relevant partners. Person specification: The successful candidate will have a proven track record in business; either working at a senior director level within large corporates or as a small business owner themselves. Whilst direct experience of providing quality business coaching to early-stage businesses is favourable, we would consider candidates with the inherent skills and aptitude to develop this capability within the role. However, crucial to being successful in this role will be the ability to build relevant business, investment and innovation networks and to proactively drive the benefits of collaborative working. More specifically, the Innovation Director will be responsible for delivering on several targets relating to business growth & development and innovation activity. Main duties and responsibilities: Business Support Management Deliver business support KPIs as per client agreements. Ensure service delivery aligns with contracts and Oxford Innovation Space objectives. Track, monitor, and report regularly. Attend team review meetings and provide necessary reports/data. Collaborate with university faculties for engagement opportunities. Support Oxford innovation and enterprise agenda. Business Growth & Innovation Services Delivery Report progress and new opportunities to the Senior Innovation Director. Provide business coaching and strategic support to OI Space customers. Develop case studies and testimonials for marketing. Enable access to business specialists and support providers. Develop workshops, events, and activities to support businesses. Business Support Team Attend team meetings, share best practices, and report progress. Develop and deliver new initiatives for business performance. Contribute to creative collateral for business support promotion. Operational Ensure business support activities contribute to targets and KPIs. Build a strong alumni network for graduated companies. Essential experience: Degree or professional business qualification. Understanding of business support landscape and SME needs. Credibility and influence at senior levels. Proven track record in business leadership. Experience in enterprise and innovation development. Experience in business management and development. Budgeting, forecasting, and resource management skills. Desirable experience: Managing business support or incubation programmes. Providing business coaching. Knowledge of SME funding landscape.
