An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Medical Workforce Manager (Business Services) to join a supportive and dynamic Medical Workforce team.
The position is well suited to an individual who has gained experience ideally within Medical Workforce, HR, recruitment or temporary staffing. Previous working within agency recruitment would also be advantageous.
Ideally, you will have knowledge of Medical and Dental terms and conditions to enable you to provide sound, advice, support and guidance to a wide range of colleagues. Additionally, you will be able to confidently build relationships with a range of colleagues and peers internally and externally, enjoy a varied workload and can deliver results within set targets and strict deadlines.
We fully support hybrid working and therefore after an initial period of training, a combination of working from home and office-based working can be arranged.

Main duties of the job
The Medical Workforce team is responsible for ensuring the timely recruitment of medical staff of all grades, dealing with resident doctors on rotations, carrying out an effective temporary staffing function, and providing expert knowledge and advice on all aspects of Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions of Service.
Main Duties Include:
* Providing day to day management and oversight of the Medical Workforce Department (Business Services)
* Providing high quality innovative advice and solutions aimed at ensuring the Trust utilises its temporary staffing guidelines for both the Medical temporary workforce and agency cover in line with the NHSI guidelines supporting the on-going reduction in external temporary staffing spend
* Providing operational support to Medical Workforce Manager, the Medical Workforce Team and other Trust Managers
Job responsibilities
* To be responsible for the operational day to day management of the Temporary Staffing Team and supervise the daily administrative processes undertaken by the Medical Workforce team in relation to temporary staffing.
* To provide key support for improvement projects and identified knowledge/skill gaps across the Medical Workforce Team.
* Overseeing the recruitment of all Temporary Staff to the internal Medical Staff bank in line with Trust Policies. Ensure that up to date and accurate records are kept of all Medical Temporary Staff both internal and external.
* To ensure that the process for securing locums (internal and agency) is kept relevant and in line with changing market developments. That all related procedures are kept updated and other members of the Medical Workforce team are instructed appropriately to be able to secure locum cover if required.
* Postholder required to understand the complexities of the various Junior Doctor rotations to ensure that gaps are identified, and appropriate action is taken to minimise the effect on the service and rota compliance.
* Maintain detailed up to date knowledge of new initiatives affecting medical staff and contribute to guidance documents where necessary. Assist in ensuring timely implementation including employment law, regulations relating to the employment of medical staff, GMC, immigration and certificates of sponsorship, equal opportunities, terms and conditions of employment and Trust policies and procedures.
* Investigating complaints relating to temporary staffing use in accordance with relevant policy, escalating to senior management where appropriate. Monitor, record and manage complaints from service users in relation to temporary workers (both bank and agency), liaising with agencies where required to ensure the complaint is effectively dealt with to ensure that processes are in place to share information about performance issues and prevent booking within other areas of the organisation (where appropriate).
* To ensure compliance with legislation across the organisation around the use of bank and agency worker.

Essential
* Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience
* Recent experience of working in a human resources/ medical workforce environment.
* Understanding and experience of the Recruitment Process.
* Evidence of previous role requiring excellent verbal and written communications.
* Experience of management/supervision.
