Our client, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), is seeking a highly skilled Systems Design Engineer to contribute to a critical project focused on developing, building, and testing hardware for a key missile sub-system. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing the architecture and developing the technical requirements for a seeker. They will join a collaborative team working on a high-profile air-launched weapon development programme. The team is tasked with developing and certifying missile systems within challenging timescales, utilising an iterative Model-Based Systems Engineering approach. What we're looking for: Tools: Proficiency in DOORS or other SysML tools.Skills: Capable of performing requirements analysis and conducting trade-off studies to flow down requirements to seeker sub-assemblies, firmware, and software. Demonstrated experience in systems engineering. Exposure to system requirements, as well as the development of system architecture models and configuration control. Ability to discuss design constraints related to hardware, firmware, or software. Knowledge of RF is desirable. Willingness to learn about the project, tools, and methods. Persistence in completing tasks. Ability to work effectively as part of a fast-paced team. What you'll get to do as a Systems Design Engineer: The project includes several key responsibilities and tasks. Firstly, it involves providing support to the integration and testing teams in capturing test requirements and plans in DOORS. This is followed by the flow-down of system requirements to subsystem requirement specifications. Additionally, the role includes defining and maintaining a design justification record that provides linkage from system requirements to subsystem requirements. Another critical aspect is defining algorithms in firmware and software, as well as developing system-level test sequences. Liaising with subsystem teams is essential to ensure that design proposals consider existing design constraints. The project also involves the increasingly adopted Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) within MBDA's System Engineering domain. Furthermore, supporting safety, security, and reliability aspects of projects is a significant responsibility. Lastly, the role includes supporting customer working groups as required. Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team. More about the role: For more than 70 years, our client has been in a strong partnership with the UK military. They have accomplished numerous milestones in defence engineering and have provided essential defence capabilities to meet the requirements of the armed forces across land, sea, and air. This role is based in Bristol one of their state of the art sites, which plays a key part in missiles operations. The location offers excellent transportation links, outstanding learning and development opportunities, and social, charitable, and sporting activities.
