Position: Outreach Youth Worker (Mentoring Role)
Hourly Rate: £20 per hour, PAYE
Location: Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole
Working Days: Monday to Friday (Term time only)
Flexible Hours: Between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM
Age Group: Key Stage 1-4
Specialist Provision: SEN, SEND, SEMH, Behavioural, Medical
About the Role:
As an Outreach Youth Worker, you will provide essential support to primary and secondary students with a range of emotional, social, and educational needs.
You will help students build confidence, improve social skills, and reintegrate into education settings. Through building strong relationships, you'll gain a deeper understanding of their day-to-day experiences and offer guidance to support them in engaging with positive activities.
Support is often provided in community venues or residential settings, depending on the individual needs of the student.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide emotional support by listening to and understanding the challenges young people face, including family issues, peer pressure, mental health concerns, and academic stress.
Help young people develop important life skills, such as problem-solving, decision-making, time management, goal-setting, and communication.
Foster self-esteem and self-worth by offering encouragement and helping students recognize their strengths and talents.
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating behaviours, values, and attitudes that encourage young people to emulate.
Support the reintegration of students into educational settings by addressing behavioural and emotional challenges.
Qualifications & Skills:
To be considered for this role, you should have:
Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with young people, particularly those with challenging behaviour or complex needs.
Personal Qualities: Compassion, patience, and a proactive attitude toward supporting students with diverse needs.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively as part of a team.
Adaptability: A flexible approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
Mentoring Experience: A strong understanding of managing and mentoring young people.
DBS: Enhanced DBS on the update system (or willingness to apply for a new DBS if required).
Right to Work: The legal right to work in the UK.
Insurance: Business insurance is preferable but not required.
