Do you love dogs as much as we do? Do you want to be a key part of helping them find a forever home?
Adopting a dog is so exciting but it’s important that all our potential adopters have all the knowledge available and our support when it comes to their journey. We are looking for someone who can explain adoption processes whilst assessing each person’s circumstances alongside our dogs' needs to find the best match! We receive a lot of visits and calls from the public with questions about adopting and this also includes people wishing to hand over their beloved dogs; you will play a key part in being able to answer and support all queries that come in.
About this Job
As an Adoption Advisor:
1. Deliver the highest level of customer service, discussing rehoming applications, answering queries and matching and rehoming dogs effectively, including translating dogs' character assessments to customers and introducing dogs to potential adopters confidently and safely.
2. Process rehoming and waiting list enquiries received via our customer relationship management software.
3. Assist the Media Coordinator to promote dogs available for rehoming and update website profiles including photos.
About You
The successful candidate will have a positive, proactive attitude and willingness to work with members of the public, staff, and volunteers. They’ll be able to work on their own initiative, have experience in handling dogs and the complexities involved regarding matching dogs to potential adopters. They’ll also have excellent communication (verbal and written), a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and strong administrative and organisational skills.

Our rehoming centres house thousands of dogs each year until they are able to find a loving new home and the success of our centres wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team of staff and volunteers; there is a real family-community within each of our centres. Come rain or shine, our team are out in all weathers to make sure the dogs have the best possible life. Dealing with thousands of visitors each month, our rehoming centres are the face of Dogs Trust, and we pride ourselves on our staff providing the very best in customer service.
What You Need to Know:
A full, manual driving licence is also essential, as driving will be a part of the role. Please note that this is a fixed term contract until 31st May 2025.
