We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organised individual to join our Blood Transfusion laboratory, Pathology Department as a Medical Laboratory Assistant at BHRUT, covering both Queen's hospital and King George hospital.
The post will provide significant opportunities for both personal development and service improvements. Good computer skills, attention to detail, good personal organisation, and awareness of quality control processes are essential to the post, ideally with experience of blood sample handling and inputting information onto a computer system such as a database or a Laboratory Information Management System.
Responsibilities include:
1. Maintaining and promoting the professional image of Laboratory Transfusion at BHR Hospital NHS Trust.
2. Maintaining good work relations with all members of staff and working as part of a team.
3. Complying with all local and national standards of work practice, e.g., the ISO 15189 Standard, and facilitating UKAS accreditation.
4. Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining laboratory equipment, including blood storage facilities within the laboratory and in clinical areas, to achieve optimum instrument performance.
