Mechanical Engineer
Job Description:
The 13-week Summer Placement Programme offers an opportunity to increase your technical skills while working on meaningful real-life projects alongside experienced engineers and graduates. This programme is remunerated at £25,000 per annum.
You will receive coaching and support to achieve your personal goals and work in multidisciplinary teams to gain experience across the product lifecycle. Successful placements may lead to offers for further placements or for our Graduate Development programme.
What you will do as a summer placement mechanical engineer
Your responsibilities will depend on the product area and lifecycle stage you are allocated:
* You will report to an experienced engineer who will provide day-to-day guidance and on-the-job training.
* You will be introduced to mechanical development processes and utilize state-of-the-art methods, technology, and tools.
* You will gain experience in various aspects of the development lifecycle, including production support, concept design, detail design, implementation, integration, applied research, and testing.
* You will have the opportunity to learn about Leonardo products through a placement within an Integrated Project Team.
What we need from you:
You must have:
* Be matriculated in a master’s level degree in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline, ideally in your penultimate year.
* Include a full statement of courses and projects studied at University, along with grades/marks/percentages achieved to date.
It would be nice if you had:
* Relevant project work and/or placements in the industry (beneficial but not essential).
* The ability to apply/share your knowledge of science and engineering to real-world problems as part of a team and individually.
Role Requirements
All Summer Placement roles require you to be currently studying a relevant degree discipline such as Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or other STEM subjects.
Please note that eligibility for UK Security Clearance is required, typically at the level of Security Check (SC), which includes a minimum of five years permanent residency in the UK.
