About the Role:
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism in Year 4 at a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Barnsley. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant impact in a childs educational journey, providing the support they need to thrive in a mainstream classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored support and assistance to a Year 4 student with Autism.
2. Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
3. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
4. Use appropriate strategies to manage and support the child’s social and emotional development.
5. Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the student is engaged and motivated.
6. Monitor and record the students progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCO.
7. Collaborate with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for the child.
Requirements:
8. Experience working with children with Autism or other Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
9. A genuine passion for supporting and enhancing the learning experience of children with SEN.
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
11. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships with children.
12. A relevant qualification in education or child care is desirable but not essential.
13. An enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
