Early Help is an approach which aims to provide support to families at any point in a child’s life when problems arise to prevent further problems arising. The provision of early help services should form part of a multi-agency continuum of support to respond to the different levels of need of individual children and families.
The City’s “Our Manchester" strategy and approach promotes a strengths-based approach to understand issues and respond to children, young people and families. This will affect positive change for our children a to have safe, happy, healthy and successful lives
The teams consist of Early Help Practitioners and Team Leaders who work in the community with services and families to identify support needs and provide the right service at the right time, tackling emerging problems, prevent issues from escalating and improve outcomes for children and their families.
The role is fast paced, and requires effective management of safeguarding risks and quality assurance of the work in line with appropriate frameworks.
As the Early Help Manager, you will have responsibility for -
* The operational management of the South Early Help Interventions Team
* Provide strong management direction and motivate team members
* Direct line management for Team Leaders
* Work collaboratively with a range of key stakeholders to consistently embed Strength based approach and support
* Lead on operational performance ensuring the team deliver a high-quality service
* Provided advice, professional Oversight and consultation to staff and partners
* Have professional accountability for complex decision making and work collaboratively with the multi- disciplinary team to establish safe and effective ways to work with people and to ensure all work is carried out in line with the appropriate guidelines, policy and procedures.
* Lead on Multi Agency meetings to identify the Right Services at the Right Time for families and young people
* Support the management of service demand and capacity

The post holder will have experience of -
* Leadership, motivating and inspiring individuals and teams
* Supporting Families and vulnerable people and have an understanding of Manchester's Unicef Child Friendly City work
* Be confident in complex decision making, using defensible decision-making skills and clear communication
* Have experience of strategic decision making
* Experience and knowledge of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults and knowledge about the legislation and guidance governing this.
* The ability to lead, inspire and develop a team with excellent team working and interpersonal skills, developing positive working cultures and relationships
* Experience of performance management.
* Experience of shaping partnerships and working together to improve the lives of children and young people in Manchester.
* Are you enthusiastic, experienced and passionate about working with children and families and empowering them.
* The candidate will be able to work under pressure and manage competing demands.
