Pre-Treatment Radiographer (CT) - Band 6 Specialist Practitioner
Applications are invited from experienced existing Band 6 radiographers to work in the pre-treatment section (CT) of the oncology centre. You will be HCPC registered.
You will be an integral member of the team performing CT scans, producing immobilisation devices and administering intravenous contrast. You will contribute to service development, teaching and training.
The post holder will be based in CT. There is an expectation to perform intravenous contrast; training may be given upon appointment.
You will have a professional and practical attitude, working with confidence increasing your experience with advanced techniques and technologies.
Role development is actively encouraged. We have a Support and Information, Prostate Support and Research Radiographer in post. Radiographers have also undertaken Independent prescribing.
Hours of work may be flexible, and will reflect the needs of the Department. The person appointed may be required to work shift patterns to cover extended working days and bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake and lead CT Imaging to include 4DCT and SABR.
2. To be able to cannulate and administer IV Contrast for the purpose of Radiotherapy CT Planning scans.
3. To lead in the construction of immobilisation devices prior to CT scanning.
4. To attend annual Immediate life support, anaphylaxis and administration of intra muscular adrenaline training.
5. To assess and manage own workload of patients and maintain associated accurate documentation.
6. To assist in Pre-treatment planning performing calculations, plan checks and dosimetry planning.
7. To contribute to ongoing research and development projects within the department.
8. To be accountable for the work of students and inexperienced staff whose work the jobholder is supervising.
Person Specification
Essential and Desirable
* DCR(T) or BSc (Hons) Therapy Radiography Completion of Preceptorship period or appropriate previous experience at band 5. HCPC Registered.
* Specialist training in dosimetry via university modules or in house training/willingness to undergo training. Audit Training.
