Who You Are Lewisham Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Adult Mental Health Social Worker to join our Neighbourhood 4 Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). You will have experience in adult mental health casework within community mental health settings, exhibiting strong assessment and engagement skills. You should possess a comprehensive understanding of clinical and social issues and risk management associated with mental health service users, alongside experience working within statutory frameworks such as the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. What the job involves As a Social Worker in the Adult Mental Health sector, you will serve as a care coordinator in collaboration with colleagues from the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation and the voluntary sector. You will manage a diverse caseload of individuals with serious long-term mental health conditions, act as a lead on adult safeguarding, and perform Care Act assessments within a multi-disciplinary team. This role involves providing holistic care coordination, engaging in a range of interventions, and promoting independence and recovery among service users. Your role will require adhering to legal frameworks, managing potential risks, conducting assessments, and recording all activities appropriately in electronic systems. Skills Strong assessment and engagement skills Knowledge of clinical, social issues, and risk management in mental health Experience with statutory frameworks (CA 2014, MHA 1983, MCA 2005) Ability to manage caseload in a multidisciplinary service Experience conducting adult safeguarding and assessments Good IT skills, including electronic systems and database management Excellent communication and report-writing skills Ability to collaborate and maintain professional relationships
