Leader Education are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to work at a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in South Shields. This centre caters for children and young people who for a variety of reasons are currently unable to access mainstream education. The ideal candidate will have some experience working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviour and circumstances as well as a passion for supporting the individual needs of children.
This school's most recent Ofsted report was presented as "Good" as it continues to offer a safe, nurturing environment that focuses on improving confidence and raising self-esteem for its students.
The normal working pattern is Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30pm and is a long-term position given a successful trial.
The successful candidate will have:
* An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience working alongside children with challenging behaviour is desirable
* A compassionate personality and values honesty, inclusivity and respect
* A knowledgeable understanding of safeguarding and ensuring the wellbeing of children
* The ability to support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
