We are looking to recruit a dispenser to join our dispensing team working across two sites at Winterton and Burton Upon Stather. Regular weekly shifts plus additional shift cover ad hoc to cover colleagues' holiday and sickness absence.

Tuesday 9.30am - 12.30pm (Monitored Dose System) Burton Surgery
Wednesday 9.00am - 1.00pm (Monitored Dose System) Burton Surgery
Friday 9.30am - 1.00pm Winterton Surgery
Friday 2.00pm - 5.30pm Winterton Surgery
The suitable candidate will ideally be qualified to NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services and have a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensary experience.
Flexibility, good team working skills, coupled with the ability to work efficiently unsupervised is essential, along with the desire to deliver an outstanding patient experience.
Main duties of the job
1. To provide drug dispensing services to the practices dispensing patients at both Winterton and Burton Surgeries.
2. Process repeat medication requests, preparing prescriptions for patient collection.
3. Organise collection of prescriptions with patients attending the practice.
4. Process requests for acute medication prescribed following a clinical consultation.
5. Organise medication for home delivery in liaison with the practice drug delivery representative.
6. Deal with patient queries as they arise.
7. Follow all protocols in place at the practice ensuring a safe, efficient dispensing service is provided.
8. Work as part of the team providing monitored dossette systems for patients who are eligible.

JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: DISPENSER (Burton Surgery and Winterton Surgery)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Dispensary Supervisor / Assistant Practice Manager
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To provide drug dispensing services to the practice’s dispensing patients at both Winterton and Burton Surgeries.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Receive and process patients’ requests for authorised repeat prescriptions by computer printout and telephone answerphone.
2. Record the prescription on the patients’ computer record.
3. Dispense prescriptions generated by GP surgeries and repeat prescriptions for all dispensing patients.
4. To maintain a safe and clean working environment in the dispensary and raise any significant events with the dispensary supervisor.
5. To attend dispensary hatch and deal with patients efficiently when collecting medication.
6. Unpacking the drug order from wholesalers.
7. To order stock and consumables as necessary from wholesalers and specialist suppliers using websites and telephone.
8. To maintain adequate stock control efficiently and process any special orders necessary.
9. Deal with patient prescription queries by telephone or in person from patients and their representatives including care home staff, following up where needed. Record any action on patients’ records.
10. Liaise with doctors with regard to any changes to drug stocks and dispensary practices and changes in working systems.
11. To undertake any other duties as necessary at Burton and Winterton surgeries.
12. Attendance at practice team meetings to maintain communication and keep up to date with any changes.
13. Maintain dispensing CPD by undertaking self-study/attendance at training event in relation to 3 modules/events each year.
14. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures in relation to dispensing and other practice policies/procedures.

Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* To be qualified to NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services and have a 1000+ hours of relevant dispensary experience.
Experience
* Experience working as a dispenser or working within a dispensary environment in another role
* Experience of working in Primary Care
