The role
As a Quantity Surveyor within our Infrastructure Development section, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you'll be key to the business. Day to day, you will be a key team player supporting the Senior Quantity Surveyor in delivery of task objectives, building the facility of a dedicated QS team within Naval Base Projects Division and develop contractual standards and processes within the team in line with business needs on a whole life contractual and costing basis.
* Control and measure cost and quality performance with Project Officers to ensure service levels are in line with business objectives, maintaining financial control of Projects.
* Develop and provide estimates for cost and feasibility studies.
* Measure, value, negotiate and agree valuations and final accounts to the maximum benefit of the company. Investigate and resolve contractual issues and disputes.
* Play a key role with Project Officers to deliver the service committed to customers at the right time, cost and quality.
* Provide guidance, motivation and support to the Naval Base Project team members, giving guidance and clarification, enabling consistent delivery of targets and improvement processes.
* Support the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Projects team in the setting and implementation of tender documentation ensuring that respective requirements, conditions of contract and adequate contract details are established and adhered to on a mutually consistent whole life contact basis.
* With respect to Infrastructure Development tasks, provide tender documentation preparation for the tendering, negotiation, agreement and subsequent close out of all contract orders in accordance with the delegated authority. Ensure that the appropriate contractual terms and processes are used in all such orders.
Essential experience of the Quantity Surveyor:
* Previous experience within a construction or engineering environment providing project QS services and controls would be desirable.
* Proven background in full tender lifecycle.
* Commercial and financial awareness.
* Legislative and regulatory standards knowledge.
* Project Planning and Project Risk Management techniques.
Qualifications for the Quantity Surveyor:
* BSc Quantity Surveying, or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying with Industry experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
