Our client is a Global Manufacturing organisation based in Ayrshire and is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join the business to lead a small team in ensuring health and safety is at the core, underpinning behaviours across all areas of the manufacturing site.
The company is already proactive in their safety journey, and the successful candidate will have strong fundamentals to go on from the start. This is by no means a desk-based role; you would be expected to be in the plant for around 60% of your time. This means they are looking for a people person to build relationships across the plant and to be able to influence safety.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the Health and Safety Department within predetermined, agreed standards and budgetary constraints.
2. Proactively engage with employees on a daily basis to drive improvements and improve the organisational culture.
3. Provide advice and support to site management and employees to ensure all site work activities and hazards are risk assessed using the Company approved system.
4. Reduce accidents and near misses via an effective CIP process; structured training of safety topics and overseeing regular emergency drills.
5. Establish, develop, and maintain key working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business and where applicable contractors, regulatory authorities, and other 3rd parties.
6. Monitor statistics and agreed KPIs relating to Health and Safety topics; highlight trends and patterns, identifying corrective actions where necessary.
7. Coordinate and carry out Health and Safety compliance activities such as audits, inspections, performance monitoring, action plans, policy and procedure development, risk assessment, and control measure review for the site in conjunction with the EDP West Head of Health and Safety.
8. Manage and develop the personnel in the Department, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, applying relevant Company policies and procedures regarding annual appraisal, training and development, and discipline (including absence/leave).
9. Provide competent advice and safety solutions to Directors, Heads of Department, Supervisors, Trade Unions, and any employee on relevant legislation and best practice methods.
10. Liaise with site management, supervisors, safety representatives, and other employees regarding Health and Safety initiatives, inspection reports, and other relevant matters.
11. Prepare, develop, implement, maintain, and continually improve the Health and Safety management system documentation for the site in conjunction with the EDP West Head of Health and Safety.
12. Establish and monitor contractor compliance with UK legislation and Company procedures to improve safety performance.
13. Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 45001 certification.
14. Take part in ISO 45001 internal, external, and certification audits.
15. Assist in meetings with site management, the Health and Safety Executive, and any other regulatory authority as necessary.
16. Investigate accidents, near misses, and other incidents; submit recommendations to prevent reoccurrences.
17. Demonstrate professional competence and development by keeping skills up to date; maintain level of knowledge and competency in relation to health, safety, and environmental management and responsibilities; including appropriate qualifications and professional memberships.
18. Provide instant feedback to any individual observed not conforming to any site rules, particularly those related to health and safety.
