We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join the new NHS Children and Young People's Gender Service (London) in the role of Youth Worker.
The Youth Worker role will play an important role in supporting young people and their families through the service. The role will involve managing a caseload of young people with complex needs, and ensure an effective care pathway is taken for individual children and young people, and their families.
For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per posts based in outer London the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 15% of the basic salary. Minimum payment of £4,314 and maximum £5,436.
Main duties of the job
The postholder must be a qualified youth worker, or registered nurse, or qualified social worker, or qualified teacher, or qualified health play specialist. The postholder must have completed a child protection qualification, as well as having completed a relevant Honours degree and be completing a relevant Masters degree.
Applicants must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with children and families, and must have experience in operational management and managing organisational change.
This is a part time role, 2 days per week ( WTE). Working day options are Monday, Wednesday or Friday (to be agreed and fixed on appointment)
Children and young people will receive an in-depth assessment of their needs,and a care plan will be developed with them and, if needed, those supporting them. Children and young people may be offered a range of care interventions such astherapy, family therapy,physical healthsupport, or mental health supportfor any identified difficulties they may want help with. Theteam will also liaise with health professionals in local services nearer to the child or young person.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The main duties of the job are to provide patient support to children and young people who are gender questioning, supporting their journey and experience within the service. Not only will you be looking after the emotional and psychological well-being of children and young people whilst providing a welcoming, safe and secure environment for young people and their families, but you will also be tasked with increasing awareness, understanding and knowledge of the youth teams work and how our services help children and young people during their care journey, both internally and externally

Academic/Professional qualification/Training
Essential criteria
* Qualified Youth Worker OR Registered Nurse - Child Branch/RSCN OR qualified social worker OR qualified teacher
* Child Protection qualification (minimal Level 3 training), teaching and assessment experience
* Completed relevant Honours degree
* Understanding of relevant national strategy, policy and legislation, and how this relates to the Trust's services
Desirable criteria
* Completed / completing relevant Masters degree

* Operational management experience in acute hospital
* Substantial demonstratable experience working with children and families (minimum 3 years)
