An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS practitioner to join our BEEU Core team, specialising in working to support looked after children, providing Mental Health Consultation and Specialist advice to Social Workers and other care providers, as well as providing direct interventions to children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties.
As a CAMHS practitioner, you will be involved in carrying out assessments (including risk management) and actively manage a defined caseload, delivering person-centred effective treatment and interventions to help children and young people within the LAC system develop skills and strategies to thrive.
You will work directly with children and young people with mental health needs, their carers/families, and additional support networks, including schools, social care, voluntary and partnership agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to facilitate positive outcomes regarding young people’s mental health needs.
You will have the opportunity to develop your supervision skills through the supervision of junior members of staff and students, supported by a multidisciplinary team including psychiatry, psychology, family therapy, and occupational therapy.
The post holder will be responsible for working collaboratively with social workers, other practitioners, and care providers to improve the experience and outcomes for Looked After Children, Young People, their Carers, and Families.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing highly specialist mental health advice and consultation to social workers and care providers to support practice and management of young people presenting with a range of complex needs.
2. Assessing and providing therapeutic interventions for young people classified as ‘Looked After’ under the care of a local authority.
3. Management of a caseload, including assessment and care-planning in conjunction with service users and multi-agencies, utilising service-specific outcome measures to guide and evaluate the effectiveness of individual treatment plans.
4. Contributing and sharing knowledge as part of a multidisciplinary team.
5. Contributing towards the BEEU Core team duty rota to provide advice and guidance to young people, families, and professionals awaiting intervention from the BEEU service.
