Job Description
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by members of the practice administration team may include any or all of the items in the following list. Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the senior receptionist/practice manager, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:
1. Opening up/locking-up of practice premises and maintaining security in accordance with Practice protocols
2. Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system
3. Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
4. Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidate will have and be able to demonstrate:
1. Good customer service skills. Previous NHS GP Practice experience is desirable but not essential;
2. Friendly and approachable manner;
3. Experience of working in a team;
4. Good telephone manner;
5. Adept in using own initiative when working alone;
6. Experience working in a busy environment;
7. The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively whilst staying calm under pressure;
8. Has a good understanding of confidentiality;
9. Flexibility in working pattern and duties;
10. Ability to cope with and manage change;
11. Computer literate. EmisWeb familiarity is desirable but training will be provided.
Work Hours
Fulltime hours for this post is 37.5 per week, worked over 4 days - compressed hours.
