REGIONAL IT ENGINEER – GROUP SERVICES
LEEDS/GATESHEAD
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Regional IT Engineer to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
Ideally, you will based in or around the Leeds or Gateshead area.
Located within central hubs or embedded within the operational business, our support services team provide the Group with the necessary tools, systems and advice to ensure we can deliver the best possible service to our employees and clients. Dedicated service teams include: Finance and Accounting, Company Secretarial, Risk and Internal Audit, Legal, IT, Human Resources & Training, Health, Safety & Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility and Communications.
The main purpose of the role is to support and coordinate the delivery of IT to end users and the business. This is a varied role and will range from traditional incident and request ticket based activities to the scoping and deployment of new sites.
You will be responsible for providing IT support to the offices and sites within your region as well as providing support to other engineers when required. In addition to scheduled site visits you will also have to provide remote support. When required you will act as a point of escalation for both customers and suppliers.
Scoping and installation of new sites will form a key part of the role. You will be required to gather requirements, produce proposals and manage the IT installation. This will involve coordinating both internal teams and external suppliers.
As a customer facing representative of IT you must demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude allowing IT to be a true enabler to the business. You will be highly customer focused, owning and managing problems through to a successful conclusion.

This is a visible, customer facing and exciting role for the right person. Building great relationships across IT and the business will be key to making it a success. Finding ways to engage positively with our employees and suppliers, whilst being in the middle will be demanding, but ultimately rewarding. Providing IT services so that our employees can just get on with their jobs without the worry about technical IT issues will be a major step forward for the company and at the same time creating a much better place for us all to work.
Competency Requirements:
1. Excellent customer service skills, ensuring expectations are set and delivered
2. Ability to forge relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers. Must be able to articulate and translate IT terminology to the business
3. Take ownership of workloads and making decisions to allow successful delivery
4. Strong problem solving skills, to both technical and non-technical problems
5. Must be resilient and able to find the balance between genuine escalations and queue jumping
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications Required:
6. Knowledge of supporting, managing and deploying Operating Systems (Windows and ) along with its associated hardware
7. Experience of Microsoft Office including both desktop and cloud based applications
8. Understanding of network technologies and products like MPLS, ADSL, G and radio
9. Experience of unified communications including VOIP and Skype Business. Exposure to Video Conferencing would be advantageous
10. Active Directory User and Computer Administration
11. Familiar with tablet and mobile technology with an exposure to MDM solutions, preferably Intune
12. months’ experience of working in a customer facing IT environment. Preferably in multi partnered, process driven environments
13. Qualified to a minimum of A level standard
14. ITIL qualified (minimum Foundation level)
15. Full, clean UK Driver’s Licence and the ability to drive for the role which requires extensive regional travel, and for which a company car or car allowance at the appropriate grade is provided
