Ffermio Bro Project Officer
Location: Brecon
Salary: £35,235 - £37,938 per annum
Job Type: Fixed Term Contract until 31st March 2028
The Role
The Ffermio Bro Project Officer will administer and coordinate projects, engagement, and advice, ensuring that farmers and other landowners can access the right funding, supporting them through the application process and monitoring delivery of activities. This role encourages collaboration and group work among agricultural and land management communities, requiring excellent knowledge of farming, conservation, budgetary control, project management, and teamwork.
Key Duties:
* Administering and coordinating on-the-ground delivery of the Ffermio Bro: Farming in Designated Landscapes programme in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park.
* Liaising with National Park Authority colleagues to identify and confirm potential Programme applicants.
* Providing the single liaison point for this Programme between the National Park Authority and the Welsh Government / Rural Payments Wales.
* Liaising with the Designated Landscapes’ Nature Recovery Programme Manager for project evaluation and monitoring.
* Providing a primary point of contact for potential farmer/landowner applicants.
* Liaising with National Park Authority wardens and specialists to improve Programme content.
* Coordinating and compiling programme-specific advice on conservation, land management, and engagement.
* Managing project management, budget management, data management, and advice to applicants and grant beneficiaries.
* Signposting applicants to other appropriate funding sources.
* Supporting the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Ffermio Bro Assessment Panel.
* Liaising with the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park advisory group on agriculture.
* Ensuring compliance with the terms and conditions of support offered under the Programme.
* Maintaining accurate data, records, and monitoring of the Programme and applicants’ progress.
* Ensuring financial claims align with National Park Authority financial procedures.
* Any other duties as required by the Director of Nature Recovery and Climate Change or the Chief Executive of the National Park Authority.
Skills and Qualifications
* A degree level qualification in environment, ecology, agricultural or land management, or significant relevant experience.
* Knowledge of current agri-environment programmes in Wales and opportunities through the Sustainable Farming Scheme.
* Knowledge of issues affecting farmers and rural communities in Wales.
* Knowledge of conservation management activities to improve biodiversity.
* Experience working with farmers, land managers, and conservation organisations.
* Experience managing financial resources and accountability for public funding.
* Full driving license.
