As a Software Engineer II – Test Automation at JPMorgan Chase within the Liquidity and Account Solutions team, you are part of an agile team that works to enhance, design, deliver and test the software components of the firm’s state-of-the-art technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As an emerging member of a software engineering team, you execute software solutions through the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of multiple components within a technical product, application, or system, while gaining the skills and experience needed to grow within your role.
Job responsibilities
1. Executes standard software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting
2. Writes secure and high-quality code using the Java language with limited guidance
3. Embedded within an agile software development scrum team, champions and owns the creation of test automation frameworks for critical financial systems
4. Elicit high quality, stable and maintainable test cases from requirements documentation
5. Designs, develops, codes, and troubleshoots with consideration of upstream and downstream systems and technical implications
6. Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain to improve the value realized by automation
7. Applies technical troubleshooting to break down solutions and solve technical problems of basic complexity
8. Gathers, analyzes, and draws conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
9. Learns and applies system processes, methodologies, and skills for the development of secure, stable code and systems
10. Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
11. Participates in peer reviews of code and tests developed by colleagues, providing valuable suggestions and improvements
12. Provides out of hours application support and coordination of Production releases
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
13. Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts or a related discipline and applied experience
14. Demonstrable ability to code in one or more object-orientated languages including Java
15. Knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies including Behaviour Driven Development (BDD), Regression, Integration, Unit, Contract, Component, End to End and performance testing
16. Significant experience with popular Java build tools and test frameworks including JUnit, Maven and Cucumber as well as experience in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks
17. Keen interest in latest developments / technologies in the testing domain
18. Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, automated testing, application logging, monitoring and operational stability
19. Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages
20. Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
21. Exposure to agile methodologies such as Scrum, CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
22. Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile,

23. Experience with Java 8 and Spring Boot
24. Exposure to application performance monitoring tools (. Prometheus, DynaTrace, Datadog )
25. Experience in using and configuring BlazeMeter and JMeter performance test tools as well as producing analytical test reports
26. Experience and interest in the design and creation of test automation environments
27. Exposure to mocking external systems (. Kafka and databases ) and testing asynchronous event driven applications
28. Experience of Unix scripting and creating Docker images
29. Exposure to containerized cloud technologies (. Kubernetes )
30. Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
31. Experience of maintaining software in a restricted Production environment
32. Experience of UI and Contract testing frameworks (. Cypress and Pact )
