Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Network Analyst to join our Information Technology team. This role is pivotal in the design, maintenance, and enhancement of Stirling Council’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise across key network components including switches, firewalls, web filtering, VPNs, Wi-Fi, and comprehensive network security. Key Responsibilities: Network Design & Implementation: maintenance of robust network solutions to meet organisational requirements. Switches & Routing: Configure and manage network switches, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance across Council facilities. Firewall & Security Management: Implement and maintain firewall configurations and policies to safeguard data integrity and prevent unauthorised access. Web Filtering & VPN Administration: Oversee web filtering protocols, ensuring compliance and security, and manage VPN services for secure remote access. Wi-Fi Network Management: Deploy and maintain wireless networks, ensuring reliable coverage, bandwidth optimisation, and security standards. Network Security Compliance: Monitor and analyse network security, proactively identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with council policies and industry best practices. Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve network-related issues promptly, minimising downtime and ensuring service continuity for all council departments. Qualifications and Experience: Essential: Demonstrated experience in network design and support, particularly with switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Proficiency in web filtering, Wi-Fi networks, and network security protocols. Strong knowledge of network security practices, compliance requirements, and cybersecurity fundamentals. Desirable: Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network, or equivalent. Prior experience in a public sector environment. Skills & Attributes: Analytical Mindset: Ability to approach complex network issues systematically and creatively. Detail-Oriented: Ensures configurations, documentation, and troubleshooting are performed with accuracy and thoroughness. Problem Solving: Proactive and resourceful in identifying solutions to network challenges.
