Category Manager This role is Hybrid working, so travel to our Travis Perkins head office based in Northampton is required once a week Principal Accountabilities Support the Head of Group Heavyside External & the wider commercial team in proposing; defining and implementing the product category strategies for the Group Commercial function, including the specific areas of ranging, brand proposition, supplier selection, service level agreements, pricing, trading margin and route to market. Ensuring that category strategies are aligned with the overall business objectives for the individual brands you support. Support and drive HSE standards within the supply chain, supporting the TPG HSE team in ensuring all suppliers are meeting the relevant Health & Safety requirements of the business and are actively participating in the Stay Safe process, whilst following the Travis Perkins Group responsible sourcing protocols and measures Establish effective working relationships with the respective business unit Regional Directors, Regional Sales & Operations Managers, Branch Managers and Head of Group Heavyside External (where appropriate) to be able to successfully influence the commerciality of that business. Work to maximise Group scale across shared suppliers Conduct the annual and ad hoc negotiations with key suppliers including in year price increase negotiations. Approximately 30% of the annual workload will be spent in supplier negotiations. Manage relationships and provide support & assistance to key internal stakeholders as required; including operations, direct sourcing, quality assurance, supply chain, marketing, finance, legal, sustainability and purchase ledger. Drive innovation and new products into the business meeting the needs of the relevant market, including the wider ESG strategy and sustainable product innovation Support the day to day commercial requirements across the Branch network. What you’ll need to have: Minimum A level or college equivalent 5 years industry or related experience Category management principles, numerate, people management experience, influencing, communication, negotiation skills Building industry key suppliers, products and competitors Strong moral/ethical background, drive, enthusiasm, continuous improvement outlook What’s in it for you?
