About the Role
Here at Leeds Sixth Form College we are recruiting for a Deputy Head - Pastoral to join the team. Leeds Sixth Form College provides a diverse range of full-time education programmes for learners aged 16-18 and adult learners aged 19+. The advertised role involves shared pastoral management responsibilities for our year 12 and year 13 learners. It would suit someone who has previous line management experience and would welcome the challenge of working within a large organisational team with a clear focus on pastoral strategies.
What You Will Do
As the Deputy Head - Pastoral you will:
1. Monitor student progress and lead on interventions to ensure students' success.
2. Support the Assistant Principal in all aspects of the Department's leadership and management, particularly around the embedding of pastoral support.
3. Performance manage pastoral staff within the Department and ensure that they develop their professional practice.
4. Be a role model across the Department for outstanding pastoral support and intervention.
5. Lead on the personal development of students and their planning and preparation for their next steps.
6. Support the progress and personal development of other student groups, such as SUTA, as required.
About You
You should:
* Hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
* Hold a relevant higher level vocational qualification or degree in teaching in a subject within the Leeds Sixth Form curriculum area.
* Act with honesty and integrity to maintain high standards of ethics and professional standards.
* Have proven experience working and managing within an educational environment, including planning, monitoring and reviewing.
* Have effective knowledge of the college and an appreciation of the wider educational issues.
* Be able to create and appreciate new ideas and perspectives.
* Be able to manage and promote restorative practice approaches and the strengthening of relationships.
* Be a role model and promote a positive image of the college.
* Be able to embody the college values: Collaborative; Inspiring; Passionate; Aspirational; Celebrate Individuality; Respectful.
* Be able to comply with all legislative and regulatory requirements.
