Compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor Needed!
Position Overview:
Substance abuse counselor will be in charge of assisting patients through medically assisted treatments and offering techniques for handling opioid addiction. The counselor conducts individual sessions and group sessions to assist with crisis management and coping strategies. The counselor will evaluate patients’ progress during counseling and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other counselors to assist the patients in achieving overall outcomes.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination.
2. Facilitate, establish, and review with each patient the initial treatment plan.
3. Complete bio-psychosocial assessment.
4. Provide individual and group counseling services; direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals; coordinate all services throughout treatment.
5. Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible.
6. Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints.
7. Develop aftercare plans and discharge plans.
8. Other related duties as determined by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
1. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science.
2. Ability to obtain AAP credentials within 180 days of employment.
3. Substance abuse counseling experience and an advanced degree are preferred.
4. Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population.
5. Understanding of an EMR system (electronic medical records).
6. Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check.
