Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic After School Club Assistant/Play Worker to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a background in childcare or early childhood education.
As a Play Worker, you will create a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for children to play and learn.
Your role will involve managing activities, promoting social skills, and ensuring the well-being of all children in your care.
This role is Monday to Friday, 3.00 - 5.30pm, during term time, at a school in South Derbyshire. Opportunity for 45 hours during school holidays, if applicable.
Responsibilities
1. Supervise and engage with children during playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
2. Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical, social, and emotional development.
3. Communicate effectively with children, encouraging positive interactions and conflict resolution.
4. Manage behaviour by setting clear boundaries and expectations while fostering a supportive atmosphere.
5. Collaborate with other staff members to create an inclusive environment that caters to the diverse needs of all children.
6. Maintain accurate records of children's progress and any incidents that may occur during play sessions.
7. Drive initiatives that enhance children's learning experiences through creative play and exploration.
Skills
1. Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting is essential.
2. Strong leadership skills to effectively manage groups of children and guide them in activities.
3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly in English.
4. Knowledge of early childhood education principles is advantageous.
5. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being able to take initiative when required.
6. A nurturing attitude towards children, with the ability to inspire confidence and creativity in their play.
