About the Role
Do you have significant experience of working in a chemistry laboratory or in the converting industry? Do you have experience of delivering high-quality coatings or other battery components ideally from a materials or battery cell manufacturing environment? Do you have significant expertise in electrochemical energy storage technologies?
WMG is a vibrant, cutting-edge research institution at the University of Warwick. The battery materials and cells group are seeking to appoint a Lead Engineer to drive complex multi-partner projects and the technical delivery of the Energy Innovation Centre (EIC). The EIC includes a £13 million Battery Materials Scale-Up Pilot Line for the development of new battery chemistries from concept through to fully proven prototypes.
The Lead Engineer will be expected to architect and execute internal and external stakeholder projects. The role will also be associated with WMG’s catapult partnership with CPI in the operation of the Advanced Materials Battery Industrialisation Centre (AMBIC) – jointly hosted by CPI and WMG.
The role may also involve interaction with UKBIC through WMG’s partnership in the joint operation of the Flexible Pilot Line anticipated for operation in Q4 2025.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
The role requires relevant experience in related scientific and engineering disciplines as you will be responsible for providing support to both internal and external stakeholders and contribute to a wide array of projects.
The Lead Engineer will be expected to operate substantially independently and facilitate strong collaboration between multiple organisations and external parties.
As a result, you should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a high level of awareness for health and safety.
