An opportunity has arisen for a position with Kirkcolm Community Trust (SCIO) to work in the local community supporting all community groups including our senior citizens and vulnerable residents as well as being involved in the general activities of the Trust.
Whilst still a fairly new charitable body, Kirkcolm Community Trust is flourishing and has great plans for the future. We have completed our fabulous Community Hub redevelopment and it has become a meeting place for many of the Kirkcolm folk and hosts many weekly events as well as social evenings. One great attraction is our Welcome Wednesday café which sees many, young and old, come along for a cuppa and bacon roll. We work very closely with the local Senior Welfare Committee in arranging outings and the Christmas lunch.
The Role
Whilst the role is flexible, activities you could be involved with may be:
1. Planning and organising regular events for the local community;
2. Meeting with the elderly in Kirkcolm community, identifying needs and proposing to the Trust ideas and solutions we can help with;
3. Being involved with Welcome Wednesdays to provide activities and matters of interest;
4. Being a point of contact for the elderly and their families and carers;
5. Liaising with the local Seniors Welfare Committee to assist with their event planning and delivery;
6. Assisting with administrative matters of the Trust eg updating our records as required;
7. Promoting the Trust and all activities on social media as well as identifying other ways to keep the whole community informed;
8. Attending events relating to the Trust and communicating with other community bodies to gain relevant knowledge and ideas.
The list is not exhaustive and the role will be what you make it! We need an enthusiastic person with an interest in our community as a whole who wishes to be involved with organising and creating the best local support for all.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience working in the community or with the Third sector would be an advantage but we are really just looking for the right person with the enthusiasm to be working in this area for the local community.

The role is for 12 hours per week initially and they can be flexible. Holidays will be pro rata.
