Our Glasgow (West) dealership is leading the way in commercial vehicle service, and we’re on the lookout for a motivated and friendly Parts Advisor to join our dynamic team in Cardonald.
As a Parts Advisor at Volvo Trucks, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our workshop team has everything they need to provide outstanding service. You’ll be the go-to person for sourcing and supplying HGV parts, making sure our vehicles stay in top shape and our technicians can get the job done efficiently.
What you will do
1. Receive deliveries, record and store parts in the stockroom according to prearranged systems.
2. Locate and label parts and maintain inventory of stock, reporting shortages to the parts supervisor.
3. Maintain good housekeeping standards, operating within health & safety guidelines.
4. Document and supervise the condition of returned parts for credit, including old unit cores, and report damaged or unsuitable items to the Parts Supervisor.
5. Ensure all parts and returns are correctly labelled and packed, with relevant documentation and paperwork.
6. Discuss part features and uses with customers, proactively promoting and selling parts.
7. Accurately compile parts from job cards for workshop repairs.
8. Provide feedback on competitors to the Parts Supervisor.
9. Work with the Parts Supervisor to develop skills and achieve maximum competency.
10. Occasionally pick up and deliver parts.
Who are you?
* Driving Licence required
* Ability to identify different parts using catalogues and systems
* Numerical ability to work with part numbers
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with colleagues and customers
* Ability to influence others to purchase additional parts
* Strong documentation and record-keeping skills
* IT literacy, including proficiency with DMS and related systems
* Proactive, enthusiastic, and approachable
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Flexible and positive attitude towards changing priorities
