A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Pharmacy Technician to join the Cystic Fibrosis(CF) and Pharmacy Teams at the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
Pharmacy services to the CF team are undergoing an exciting period of change. This role is new, and we are looking for an eager and innovative individual to develop the role of a technician in this area and improve how services are delivered to our patients. We want to increase the patient facing element of the service and expand our involvement. Working collaboratively with the CF team, our joint aim is to develop the service to further benefit our patients, who have complex needs. The post holder will be based at the Birmingham Children's Hospital site and will be expected to provide expert medicines advice, medication reviews, counselling and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings. We also provide a homecare service to our patients and the postholder will be expected to work closely with the pharmacy homecare team.
The BWC pharmacy team was voted the Outstanding Clinical Team of the year.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the extended hours, weekend and bank holiday rotas.

Main duties of the job
1. To work as a Pharmacy Technician within the Multidisciplinary Cystic Fibrosis (CF) team assisting the Senior Pharmacist CF to provide a clinical service to the team.
2. Enhance patient care and contribute to clinically safe, effective and cost-efficient use of drugs used within in CF, including high-cost drugs.
3. To complete Medicines Reconciliation and counselling for CF inpatients and outpatients.
4. To support ongoing and new registration of homecare for CF patients under BCH care.
5. To participate in the pharmacy late night, weekend and bank holiday service as required.
Applicants will hold a valid BTEC & NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Science Certificate and be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
