Personal Care Assistant for a person P/T £11.44/hr in LS10 starting with 10 hrs P/W Apply at UKCIL.com. Reference: d27aef04 I am a 50-year-old woman who has cerebral palsy. I have never been diagnosed but I have traits of Autism. I like to know details of things and I don't like too much change without prior notice. I have lived alone since I was 18 years old but have had PA support for the past 16 years in order to help me stay living independently. I can walk aided but my mobility has declined significantly over the last few years. I may ask for the PA to take me out for a walk in my wheelchair from time to time if the weather is nice so need someone relatively fit and able to do this. I don't know if it is due to my condition or my medication, but I have a habit of repeating things a lot, I know this can get frustrating for the people around me, so I need a PA that is understanding and patient. I refer to myself as a bit of a nightmare, but I always have the best intentions and I am kind, honest and friendly. I can shower on my own but every so often I would like some help with additional tasks. I then need support in dressing as I find my lower half difficult, especially socks and shoes. Although I have a bit of pain in my hands when I write, I really do enjoy writing thank you cards and love sending birthday cards out to people. I am a thoughtful person and kind of nature so I need a PA that will help safeguard me against anyone trying to take advantage as I understand I am vulnerable. I am part of a women's choir that is held on a Friday morning. I love being part of the choir as I love music and singing. I will require a PA to complete my exercises with me once a week and quite often ask if they would apply pain relief. I enjoy going to the local supermarket on my mobility scooter but when weather is bad, I may ask my PA to pick up a few essentials for me. I also enjoy the odd trip to my local shopping centre where I would ask my PA to accompany me. I would hire a mobility scooter from the shopping centre. I like to think I am a happy person, but I know I have negative tendencies and I understand this can be quite draining for my PA. My sister is great at reminding me of all the good positive things I have, and this is what I need from a PA. The values I would like from a PA are to be, honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, positive, willingness to spend time outside if required, understands equality and diversity and has a good sense of humour. Specific requirements, someone with an understanding of Cerebral Palsy and or brain damage. Due to the nature of this role including medical/personal care I will be considering female applicants only preferrably 40 would be desirable but not essential. My home is a non-smoking environment.
