Job Summary
BASEC, part of Kiwa UK, are seeking a Chemistry Test Technician to join our team in Milton Keynes. In this role, you will undertake chemical testing, ensuring BASEC deliver first class quality testing services to both internal and external customers. About the role
1. Act as a Kiwa Ambassador, embodying ambition, reliability, and engagement.
2. Develop technical skills through studying standards and performing supervised chemical tests.
3. Ensure test equipment calibration and compliance, working with the Fire Lead as needed.
4. Contribute to the maintenance and operation of laboratory facilities to meet BASEC, customer, and accreditation standards.
5. Perform and assess chemical tests with accuracy and adherence to safety procedures.
6. Conduct inspections, initiate remedial actions, and keep leads informed of test progress and issues.
7. Manage workload efficiently and collaborate to optimise laboratory resources.
8. Oversee procurement and disposal of consumables, ensuring regulatory compliance.
9. Participate in audits and implement corrective actions within the team.
Do you have what it takes?
1. GCSE Grade C and above in Maths, English and Science, or Diploma in Engineering / Science.
2. HNC in an Engineering discipline or Degree in engineering / Science is desirable.
3. Resilient, dynamic, and results-driven with excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
4. Excellent communication, motivational and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality responsibilities.
What can you expect from us in return?
1. £28,500 - £32,000 per annum
2. Generous Annual Leave – Starting at 25 days plus Bank Holidays, with the option to buy additional leave and increased entitlement with length of service
3. 37.5 hours per week – Monday-Thursday 7.00am to 15.30pm, Friday 7.00am to 12.30pm, lab-based role
