The Commercial Manager is accountable for customer experience and the estimating function, working closely with product management to develop a strategy and close collaboration with the James Waler sales units maximizing commercial opportunity. Key Responsibilities The Commercial Managers primary purpose is the delivery of sales for the metals business unit, working closely with product managers to develop and execute a product strategy within the James Walker sales network Accountable for commercial aspects of the product lines manufactured on site. Work closely with all internal and external customers to deliver a service aligned with the values and behaviours of James Walker. Lead the commercial functions of the business with pride. Drive a culture of continuous improvement by visible leadership and mentoring, challenge the perceived “Norm”. Nurture, support and innovative a “can do” philosophy across the commercial & customer service team. Provide effective and visible leadership, demonstrate the values and behaviors of the business whilst developing the succession plan. Accountable for the customer relations and provision of information to the end customer, ensuring the customer has a seamless positive experience across all product groups. About you Essential Experience Proven Commercial understanding of BOM & Route structures with the ability to challenge the norm and influence the customer. Managing and building competent teams and setting standards and expectations of others. Demonstrable experience of working in Commercial, customer service / sales orientated background Understanding of metals and manufacturing processes Demonstrative understanding of engineering, manufacturing and machining principles, with the ability to identify customer requirements, understand engineering drawings and customer specifications. Preferred Experience Ability to demonstrate cost structure of Machined components Knowledge of the Bolting, Forging or metal supply industry Proficient in MS office & ERP system Manufacturing/engineering knowledge Decision Making & Problem Solving Skills Presentation Skills Export Terms & Procedures Essential Qualifications Management qualification or other professional management training(or working towards), e.g. CMI/ILM Degree in Business, Engineering or other related subjects Preferred Qualifications Engineering-related qualification Trained in change management Application End Date: 07/02/2025
