This is a one year clinical fellowship, conducting projects focused on clinical and translational research (predominantly lymphoma). The research will be a mixture of clinical and translational research and the successful candidate will be expected to develop strong links with one of the ICR laboratories and clinician scientists/scientists that the GI/lymphoma unit work in collaboration with. There are a number of ongoing clinical research projects across the disease areas and the GI/lymphoma unit has a strong track record of success in students successfully completing their projects, publishing extensively, presenting internationally often in globally impactful research, developing their own profile and being awarded their doctoral degree. The post holder will be based in the Royal Marsden GI/lymphoma unit working across both sites of the hospital although they may preferentially base themselves at one site. The major part of the research team is based in Sutton. As part of the GI/lymphoma clinical research team, they will have considerable peer group support from the existing body of clinical research fellows. The research fellows are a mix of senior clinical fellows who hold National Training Numbers (NTNs) in Medical Oncology and are Out-of-Program in a doctoral research position, post-CCT fellows gaining experience in clinical and translational research and more junior researchers gaining clinical research and GI/ lymphoma experience before pursuing a career in oncology. There is also considerable infrastructural support available to the successful candidate in terms of trial coordinator, research data manager, research biological specimen coordinator and research nurse support and the consultants are experienced principal investigators and supervisors.
