Research Associate/Fellow in Materials Discovery: The University of Nottingham invites applications for the position of Research Associate/Fellow to contribute to the development of a Digital Materials Discovery Lab. This initiative focuses on advancing the next generation of ceramics for thermal and environmental barrier coatings, particularly for aerospace and space applications. Candidates may specialize in either the experimental aspects or computational modeling facilitated by machine learning.

* Candidates should have an excellent understanding of motor controllers, machine learning, and Python programming skills.
* A relevant PhD is preferable, minimum starting salary for those with a PhD is £33,966.
* Open to candidates from the UK, Europe, and globally, with support available for international colleagues relocating to the UK.
Job Description:
* Develop new coatings using high-throughput materials discovery and computational techniques.
* Integrate a high-throughput Materials Discovery Apparatus (MDA) with a batch processing high-temperature furnace and plasma spray technology.
* Employ active learning, Bayesian optimisation, and Graph Neural Networks in research.
* Collaborate with a team of industrial and academic partners as part of an EPSRC-funded project.
* Work involves a 50-50 split between machine learning and automation tasks.
* Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and potential industrial applications.
