We are seeking an experienced Merchandise Planner to head up our Craft, Stationery, Cards & Party categories.
You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our product assortment and driving our business growth. You will have the power to analyse data, identify customer preferences, and translate insights into actionable strategies. This is a true business partner role which will need you to build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure that business and merchandise strategies are achieved.
As a Planner, you will:
* Build the product & price framework, in partnership with the Category Manager, into the agreed key financial guardrails set by the Head of Planning and GM of Merchandise department in line with the business strategy.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive merchandise plans aligned with company goals and market trends.
* Utilize your analytical prowess to forecast demand, manage inventory levels, and optimize product assortment for various store locations.
* Monitor sales performance, identify opportunities, and implement effective markdown and promotional strategies to maximize profitability.
* Stay ahead of the game by conducting market research, tracking competitor activities, and spotting emerging trends to ensure our merchandise remains competitive and relevant.
* Foster strong relationships with suppliers and maintain optimal inventory levels to meet customer demands while minimizing costs.
What you can bring to the Role:
* 3+ years’ experience as a Merchandise Planner or Buyer in a retail environment.
* Exceptional analytical skills with a strong ability to interpret and translate data into actionable insights.
* Proficiency in merchandise planning software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
* Solutions-focused mindset with a keen eye for trends, customer preferences, and market dynamics.
* Detailed category management skills: Segmentation, Pricing, Ranging and Promotion, with an understanding of Australian Competition and Consumer Legislation.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively partner with internal teams and external stakeholders.
