About the role:
* Lead, manage and develop the Mail Sales Team incorporating both new business and account management teams.
* Deliver the new business sales target for UK Mail through a combination of direct sales and channel development.
* Ensure retention of base customers and continued development of opportunities within the existing customer accounts.
* Develop and enhance the skills and capabilities of the Mail Sales Team to be the recognised leading UK downstream access mail sales function.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead, motivate, support and performance manage the account management team to retain and maximise profitable revenues from existing customers.
* Develop sophisticated commercial client proposals requiring a detailed understanding of contract profitability and commercial risk.
* Negotiate commercial terms for multi-year and multi-million pound contracts with the UK's largest postal users.
* Own and develop sales processes to enable sales agility whilst ensuring appropriate business and commercial controls are established and enforced.
* Own the tender response process, ensuring a high success rate through the creation and presentation of commercially attractive customer propositions for both winning new customers and retaining existing contracts.
* Train and develop the sales team to become and remain a high performance sales team.
* Operate as business sponsor for a number of the strategic accounts.
* Gather, understand and share competitor intelligence. Understand the strengths and weaknesses of our propositions. Promote necessary product development and refine our commercial offering to maximise sales success.
* Drive efficiencies through proactive account management to increase the profitability of the existing customer portfolio without loss of service.
* Ensure that CRM tools are effective and deployed across the sales team fully compliant to business standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience of developing and winning multi-million pound business services or logistics proposals.
* Experience of developing and leading a high performance sales team.
* Experience of managing business services or logistics contracts within the financial services, government and/or retail sectors.
* Analysis of operational and financial data using MS Excel.
* Excellent written skills and experience of writing RFP responses and client proposals.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Knowledge of mail services preferred.
