Managing Director of Defence and National Security
Primary Purpose of this Position
Working within a small, dedicated team we are looking for a talented DVT Engineer with experience in a low volume, high mix electro/mechanical assembly environment. This is a broad role, and the ideal candidate shall be capable of designing, developing and prototyping interface PCB’s and associated wiring harnesses for computing equipment and peripherals in accordance with all relevant UK legislation and company directives.
Secondary Purpose of this Position
Establish rigours platform test procedures and lead all VVT activities throughout the business including the creation of specific test jigs.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. HNC or equivalent qualification in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or similar discipline, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
2. Comprehensive experience in using Altium or similar PCB CAD packages.
3. A good appreciation of Digital/Analogue transition PCBs and basic RF filtering techniques.
4. Comprehensive experience in working to IPC-2221B.
5. A proven track record in producing 2D or 3D wiring looms drawings in accordance with BS 8888.
6. Strong understanding of modern PCB manufacturing/prototyping processes.
7. Experience of regulatory approval and compliance of electronic products including safety, EMC and experience of working within an ISO9001 environment.
8. Comply with RoHS Directives and REACH Compliance.
9. Experience in producing comprehensive and validation of test plans.
10. Hands on experience in working in a development lab environment.
11. Knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Job Duties
1. Excellent written and verbal communicator capable of working in multidisciplinary teams and conveying technical issues to a non-technical audience.
2. Design, developing and prototyping interface PCB’s and associated wiring harnesses in support of project lifecycle gates.
3. Ensuring that design changes are implemented in accordance with company procedures by the team in a timely manner.
4. Create, manage and release technical documentation and Bills of Materials in accordance with company, customer and BSI Standards.
5. Support other departments on the procurement and manufacture of products.
6. Problem solving of electrically related issue on existing and new product lines.
7. Lead and conduct VVT activities on all new and existing product lines.
8. Consult with suppliers and maintain quality standards.
9. Attending and participating in review meetings and provide accurate information.
10. Understand the impact of design decisions on cost, timings and quality.
11. Able to work with good attention to detail to produce concise design documentation always aiming for a “right first time” approach.

4. Embedded firmware design experience.
5. Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and RFI suppression techniques.
6. Familiar with UK & US Military EMC and Environmental Test Standards, E.G. Mil Stan 810, 461, Def Stan 00-35 & Def Stan 59-411.
7. A passion for technology is essential and familiarity with complex electronic IT equipment would be welcome.

Security Clearance: You will be expected to achieve clearance level within 3-months’ probation period as condition of employment. Basic security background checks will be performed on all successful candidates.
