Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in one of the largest and most dynamic children's services in the UK, working to protect and support children and families across Birmingham.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in managing complex cases, supporting social workers, and ensuring high-quality practice. You will provide expert guidance, helping to shape decisions that lead to the best outcomes for children at risk. Responsibilities:
1. Manage a complex caseload, ensuring effective safeguarding interventions and positive outcomes for children.
2. Provide mentorship and supervision to less experienced social workers, supporting their development and ensuring best practice.
3. Lead on multi-agency safeguarding meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings, offering expert social work input.
4. Carry out risk assessments and ensure care planning is effective, child-focused, and in line with statutory requirements.
5. Work in partnership with families, schools, health services, and other agencies to provide a holistic approach to safeguarding.
6. Contribute to service development, helping to improve and embed high-quality social work practice within the team.
Requirements:
1. Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
2. Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience in safeguarding, child protection, and statutory social work.
3. Skills: Strong leadership, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
4. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and best practices.
5. Other Requirements: A commitment to professional development and improving outcomes for children and families.
