Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in one of the largest and most dynamic children's services in the UK, working to protect and support children and families across Birmingham.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in managing complex cases, supporting social workers, and ensuring high-quality practice. You will provide expert guidance, helping to shape decisions that lead to the best outcomes for children at risk. Responsibilities:
* Manage a complex caseload, ensuring effective safeguarding interventions and positive outcomes for children.
* Provide mentorship and supervision to less experienced social workers, supporting their development and ensuring best practice.
* Lead on multi-agency safeguarding meetings, case conferences, and court proceedings, offering expert social work input.
* Carry out risk assessments and ensure care planning is effective, child-focused, and in line with statutory requirements.
* Work in partnership with families, schools, health services, and other agencies to provide a holistic approach to safeguarding.
* Contribute to service development, helping to improve and embed high-quality social work practice within the team.
Requirements:
* Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
* Experience: Substantial post-qualification experience in safeguarding, child protection, and statutory social work.
* Skills: Strong leadership, risk assessment, and decision-making skills.
* Knowledge: In-depth understanding of child protection legislation, safeguarding procedures, and best practices.
