Comics Youth CIC is an innovative non-profit that delivers comics-based literacy and wellbeing projects for disadvantaged children and young people aged 8-25 within Merseyside and the wider Knowsley Borough. The overall ethos of the organisation is to break down participation barriers for marginalised groups including looked after children, LGBTQIA young people, global majority youth, care leavers, young carers and young people experiencing complex mental ill health within the Liverpool City Region to make, create and publish comic books about salient community issues. Sessions are delivered within safe, inclusive, and indiscriminate community venues.
Job Summary
The Creative Youth Worker (Youth Work Lead) role is integral to Beyond the Margins, a three-year project providing creative and mental health support to marginalised young people. This role is focused on fostering interpersonal skills, confidence, and leadership among young people aged 8-25, particularly those engaged as Volunteers, and Young Marginal Associates.
The postholder will co-deliver creative and youth work-focused sessions alongside the Zine lead, ensuring young people receive both emotional and practical support in their development. They will also provide supervision for Marginal Associate’s, facilitate group sessions, and offer 1-2-1 mentoring, working flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays to meet young people’s needs. Additionally, they will play a key role in coordinating and facilitating the annual Beyond the Margins community celebration event, bringing together young people, partners, and the wider community to showcase creative work and achievements.
