Position Overview:Reporting to the Associates and Principal Engineers you will play a pivotal role in delivering MEP services design information up to a RIBA 4b/c and 5 level of detail to support the project teams during the pre-construction stage. Additional duties will include the review of tender information as this received and aiding the estimating department on design related matters. Contribute to design verification's of design information during the pre-construction period to ensure technical correctness and compliance with the current industry guidance and British Standards.Key Responsibilities: Works with the Associates and Principal Engineers to deliver individual projects. Contributes as part of the internal design team in the delivery of Stage 4b/c & Stage 5 level of detail design work. Ensures their work is delivered to the highest technical standards and are in compliance with the current regulations and relevant British Standards. Ensures that the company quality standards are being followed at all stages of the design process. Develops calculations and design drawings, ensuring they are appropriate and comply with the client's brief, this would encompass the following:➢ Prepare calculations to determine main plant sizes/capacities.➢ Carry out plant distribution sizing such as pipework, duct-work, pressure drop calculations or cable containment, cabling, lighting layout etc.➢ Carry out MEPH calculations using recognised industry standards and software such as Amtech, Dialux, IES, Heavacomp etc.➢ Carry out initial plant selections for the main plant items such main switch-gear, rising bus-bars, distribution boards, generators, chillers, ASHP, VRF equipment, AHUs, Domestic Water tank sizing etc.➢ Produce concept schematics for the various MEPH systems and review with the senior engineers.➢ Produce red-line layout mark-ups for the various MEPH systems for input into AutoCAD or Revit software.➢ Produce technical plant equipment schedules that will be include as part of the final design package issue. Attend design and site meetings. Carry out site surveys. Review of technical submissions noting any discrepancies between the client ERs and the equipment being proposed. Collaborates with the other design engineers and project managers to identify and develop solutions in line with project requirements.Job DescriptionJob title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Contributes to the co-ordination of the MEP services items with other external members ofthe design team, i.e. General Contractors, Architects, Structural Engineers, BIM, FireEngineering, Acoustics, Sustainability, environmental accreditation. Is able to be involved and contribute to multiple projects in parallel where necessary. Liaises and co-ordinates with other internal departments such as estimating and BIM. Ensures that information presented to internal and external stakeholders is of anappropriate standard. Keep abreast of evolving industry regulations and standards and communicate necessarychanges to stakeholders. Develop a good knowledge of the company structure and business streams.Person Specification: Bachelor's or master's degree in building services engineering, environmental science or arelated field. Previous design experience of commercial building experience including new build, shell andcore, major refurbishment, and CAT A/B fit-outs. Previous experience of delivering design work in their discipline from RIBA Stage 2 to 4. Awareness of the design deliverable that are required at each design stage in accordancewith the guidance provided in BSRIA BG6. Proficiency in using Bluebeam Revu software or other similar digital marking up tool relatedto MEP services engineering. Knowledge of sustainability and environmental accreditation schemes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and analyse complexdata. Very good communication and report writing skills to effectively collaborate with internaland external stakeholders. Ability to work as part of the team to meet deadlines. Able to manage their own time. Extends their ability and is interested in acquiring new skills and techniques. Contributes to a friendly and positive environment within the company.
