£55,000 per annum DOE plus £3,000 welcome bonus paid on registration

Meridian Business Support is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead an Ofsted-rated GOOD children’s home in Cannock. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the future of young people in care while growing within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation. Many of the Children & Young People we support have a learning disability, Autism, epilepsy and/or can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children (not all) are non-verbal or have limited communication and will communicate with us through different methods such as picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton.

As a Registered Manager of this Ofsted rated GOOD home you will
1. Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
2. Develop a great team: Working with the recruitment teams support, bring in the right people for your home. Complete company induction and personal development plans, retaining a strong team to ensure familiar faces for the young people.
3. Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
4. Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
5. Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home’s Statement of Purpose.
6. Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
7. Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
8. Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
9. Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
Essential Requirements and Experience
1. Passionate about making the difference to the lives of young people in care.
2. Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
3. Qualifications: Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application; if not, then you must be enrolled on the Level 5 within 6 months of starting in post.
4. Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
5. Skills: Efficient in planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
6. Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
7. Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
8. Driving Licence: Full UK manual required.
