We are seeking a Principal Network Engineer specialising in Voice & Transmission to join our TechOps Team in the UK. The ideal candidate will be located in Berkshire, Wokingham, or Warwickshire, although applicants from nearby areas will also be considered.
What will you be doing?
You will be part of the Technical Operations Team (TechOps) for Magdalene, the team that designs and develops our communications solutions, driving efficiency whilst implementing the solutions directly with our customers.
You will be liaising with Service Management, Project Managers, and Change Management colleagues on a daily basis for the successful delivery of customer services including Project and Provide work on voice network platforms throughout the UK.
Who are we?
Magdalene operates as a Telecommunication Infrastructure Services Company and is part of the Telecom Division of M Group Services. Covering the full network lifecycle, we deliver Managed Services and Projects for both fixed and mobile infrastructure networks across the operator and utility markets.
What will your key responsibilities be?
1. Attend and resolve faults in a timely manner to satisfy Service Level Agreement (SLA).
2. Collaborate with other teams via MS Teams, Phone, Face to Face, etc.
3. Strictly observe our best practices and high-quality deliveries.
4. Write lessons learned for the benefit of others.
5. Write Local Working Instructions.
6. Be a true team player.
7. Focus on Customer Satisfaction.
8. Be flexible to travel to customer sites on demand at either Wokingham, Warwick, Reading, etc.
9. Day-to-day administration of all Cisco Call Manager platforms.
10. Legacy TDM Support including jumpering.
11. Provide quality assurance for 3rd party installations and upgrades.
12. Ensure site documentation is available and updated regularly.
What competencies are we looking for?
1. Must be PC literate and competent with Word/Excel/Visio/MS Project.
2. Knowledge of Cisco Call Manager.
3. Interpersonal skills and teamwork. Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
4. Wide knowledge of Voice Protocols – both traditional TDM & IP.
5. Wide knowledge of Transmission/Data services, e.g., SDH is preferable.
6. Practical and theoretical knowledge of Cisco CM/VCC/Teams/Voice call recording/Data services and Reporting Tools such as CMS/RMG/Oak.
7. Candidates must be eligible and willing to undergo vetting checks to obtain SC clearance for this post.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. Clean Driving Licence.
2. Strong knowledge of protection systems and data transmission services within a high-voltage transmission network.
3. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
4. Ability to work within a managed service framework, ensuring contractual obligations and performance metrics are met.
