Company Overview: iFM's Linen and Laundry department provides a linen and laundry service across wards and departments within the Royal Bolton Hospital site within the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. iFM's Uniform department provides uniforms across wards/departments and community sites within the Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
Main Purpose of the Role: Laundry assistants are trained to provide provisions of linen and laundry to wards and departments within Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. Assistants are responsible to the iFM Assistant Facilities Manager, working under the direction of the iFM Laundry Supervisor. Assistants will be expected to maintain good working relationships with all grades of staff. The iFM Laundry Service covers a period of 7 days per week including weekends and Bank Holidays and this position will be expected to be flexible and provide cover when required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Main duties of this role are detailed below, however this list is not exhaustive and may change in line with service demands.
* Deliver cages of clean linen to wards/departments in a timely manner using tug and collecting cages of dirty which help to support clinical colleagues in delivering high quality patient care.
* Put linen away on ward shelves which ensures systems are in place in relation to health and safety and quality.
* Pack clean linen into cages for next day's deliveries which helps to continuously improve standards of care and service.
* Check-in linen from outside supplier and place in situ in linen room and stock cupboard.
* Ability to adjust linen quantities as required to support efficiency savings.
* Collection of soiled linen from wards and departments as per guidance to ensure compliance with our service provider.
* General housekeeping of all work areas to ensure health and safety compliance.
* Requirement for flexibility to allow sickness and annual leave cover.
* Assist and take direction in the event of any fire/major accident or incident.
* Participation of team meetings, performance reviews, return to work discussions, accident/incident reporting, any meetings/reporting deemed necessary to the role.
* The ability to identify any personal development and/or training requirements.
* Attend all required training.
* Ability to communicate effectively across all staff grade levels, delivering high levels of customer service.
* The post holder may work in an environment where they could be exposed to sensitive circumstances.
* The post holder may be exposed to some unpleasant environmental conditions.
* Any other general requirements as appropriate to the post.
* Order uniform for all grades of staff as required.
* Replenish uniform stock levels.
* Weekly uniform audits/stock take.
* Assist with obtaining uniform for staff to try on for size.
* Ensure correct documentation is completed.
* Contact suppliers and escalate, should items be missing from stock deliveries.
* Replenish uniform on shelves, ensuring compliance with health and safety policies.

Essential Requirements:
* Basic secondary education
* Full UK Driving licence
Experience & Knowledge:
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Previous experience of undertaking working in a Laundry but not essential
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of the key health and safety issues within the healthcare environment
Skills & Ability:
* Ability to take and understand basic instructions
* Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisors and colleagues
* Ability to work under pressure and respond to changing demands at short notice
* Willingness to undertake mandatory training and any other training identified by the Facilities Department
* Flexible approach - must be willing to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
