Please note this role is for 24 hours. The applicant can work these hours over 4-5 days Monday - Friday at regular hours that suit the service.
The role would be within a day surgery unit and the elective admissions lounge. The hours of opening are 7am - 8pm Monday to Friday. The applicant would work closely with all of the team ensuring they have everything they need to provide adequate care to their patients, including dressings, leaflets, and supplies for a successful discharge. Stock levels need to be checked each shift, and forming an effective relationship with the trust's stores department is essential to allow an uninterrupted workflow. They would also need to be able to order stocks/specialist equipment through the trust's Cardea system. You will work well with the management team on the ward in promoting a positive environment for both staff and patients. The role of health and well-being lead could be implemented here also.
Main Duties of the Job
1. Support the staff and area by ensuring the ward is stocked up with everything needed for an effective day surgery unit.
2. Ensure the patients have everything they need for their stay in hospital.
3. Monitor and maintain cleaning standards according to the trust's policy daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
4. Ensure stock is stored safely and rotated according to dates.
5. Ensure equipment is in good working order and if not, organize for repairs to be made through the correct procedure.
6. Deal with telephone enquiries, taking and conveying messages appropriately.
7. Prepare patient discharge envelopes ready for the nurses to use.
8. Maintain ward information boards ensuring these are kept up to date and not cluttered.
9. Liaise with the clinical governance lead regarding leaflets that are given out to patients and ensuring these are kept up to date.
10. Undertake training deemed necessary for your role.
11. Have effective communication with colleagues.
12. Incorporate health and well-being discussions with colleagues in your team.
