Qualified Teacher (ability to teach within the STEM curriculum and advantage but not essential)
Salary £28,000 - £43,685 plus Community Homes Allowance of £6,289 and Secure Unit Allowance of £2,583 per annum
Hours 32.5 hours per week Mon-Fri

If the answer’s yes, the role of Teacher at a Secure Children’s Home could be right for you.
We care for 24 young people aged 10 to 18. They are referred following court proceedings, placed on remand or sentenced to a period of detention, or because they need to be placed in secure accommodation for their own safety or the safety of others. You will lead a team of care practitioners who have a vital role in the daily lives and long-term outlook for the vulnerable young people, who may have complex needs and display challenging behaviours.

About you
We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic, adaptable candidates with the personal qualities to connect with and inspire vulnerable children and young people. You must be able to:
· set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students
· promote good progress and outcomes by students
· demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
· plan and teach well-structured lessons
· adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
· make accurate and productive use of assessment
· manage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment
· fulfil wider professional responsibilities inc. providing guidance and direction to support staff within education and contributing to the wider aspects of the centre’s practice.
We expect the following experience and qualifications:
· qualified teacher status
· ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons that meet the individual needs of all our students
· ability to provide high quality assessment and feedback that promotes student progress
· understanding of child and adolescent development
· understanding of restorative and trauma-informed practice
· knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and child protection and safeguarding principles
· experience of teaching in a residential childcare/education environment or of teaching in a SEND/SEMH provision
· experience of supporting children or young people with complex and challenging behaviour to engage with education activities
